Computer Game

I've been threatening to do this for months, but as of last night I am now a Linux user.

Let me explain:

The game makers over at Bethsesda are apparently Portal addicts (and so is just about everyone that's played it... great game).

Now they are such addicts that they had to go an make a new map for portal, and let me tell you, it's a damn doosey. It's fun, it's interesting, and it has some impressive new gameplay functions that Valve didn't throw at us in the official game.

It also looks nearly as good as a "real" level and even re-uses some of the GlaDOS voice snippets as you go along. All of it makes for a good time out.

Portal is fantastic! A puzzle game full of insane physics, happy child like killer gun turrets, and a crazy AI that offers you cake. Lydia had to drag me away from it last night.

So there are a few stories floating around about the interesting fun with Bioshock's anti-piracy setup.

For the record, all indications are that the game is fantastic. I've played with it. It's nice, and I almost bought it... then I learned about some bullshit. (Read on)

In college I worked on a webgame design with a friend. This was some concept work for it.

The idea was that genetic monsters battled gladiator style.

This is the Warrior Alien for the Quake 3 mod I was working on with the Fat Ferret mod team.

This was a sketch for the Space Marine Quake 3 mod I did for Fat Ferret.  I liked this one a lot.  I used pictures from World War 1, 2, Korea, and Vietnam Wars for the character.  The smoking medic, the bloody hand print on the rag, the square glasses, the grim look in his eye.  They were all from field medic photos of real life battlefield medics.

This was the alien hunter for the Fat Ferret Space Marine mod for Quake 3.
